Rambling on and on and on about farming, food and astronomy. Astronomy? Yep. Farming and astronomy go together like garlic and basil, tomatoes and peppers, ice cream and bacon.

My wife has been involved in the food service industry for her entire career, so we get tons of these freebie food service magazines that quickly turn into bathroom reading material. Some of the advertising is pretty strange at times, but every once in a while I run into one that strikes me, like this one.
Yes, it’s “Better Nutirition Man”!! It harkens back to those strange ads you used to see in comic books back in the 50s and 60s. You know, the ones that sold the X-Ray Specs, seamonkeys, and where you could get a bike or telescope or BB gun if you sold 10,000,000 seed packets to your neighbors.
Part of my brain thinks this is a creative, fun ad. Part of my brain thinks it’s one of the dopiest ads I’ve ever seen, and it might be something that Saturday Night Live might have come up with to lampoon the industry.
(Unpaid endorsement follows) I should add that I like RedGold products. They make a catsup that is really pretty good, and their canned tomato products are pretty good as well, when we run out of our own canned/frozen tomatoes. (End unpaid endorsement)
